Technical Seminar on Experience Sharing on Solar PV System and Fire Safety Measures

Date, Time & Venue
Wednesday 14 August 2019, 18:15 registration, 18:30 to 19:30
Auditorium, Kowloon Tong Fire Station, 3 Baptist University Road

Programme Highlights
Under the 2018 Scheme of Control Agreement (SCA), the Government implemented new measures to promote renewable energy power generation; yet Feed-in Tariff (FiT) has been newly launched since 2018.

With the promotion and positive reverberation of the FiT scheme, more residents and corporates are interested in installing solar PV system at their premises. Therefore, this new market induced large numbers of inexperienced contractors in this business. This led to more concerns from the society about safety and related fire risks of the system due to the different qualities of contractors’ works.

In the past, the needs of even renewable energy systems were niche in local market; thus, formal recommendations in relation to fire safety was very limited and not many advices for the PV system electrical related concerns. However, there are different advance technologies and fire safety measures in other countries which could be adopted and has been introduced and adopting in Hong Kong, which would be bought to you during this seminar.

Speakers
Ir Mike Mai (In Cantonese)
BEng (Hons), HKIE, Beam Pro, Managing Director of Widex Technology Development Ltd, has over 10 years-experience to provide engineering, procurement and construction service on renewable energy projects, especially photovoltaic (PV) system since 2006.
Under the leadership of Mike, Widex as a leading solar energy system developer in Hong Kong, completed over 3MW projects in a wide range of clients, including the Government, commercial, NGOs, institutes and residential. And, his work is highly recommended by clients and even continuously received recognition and awards from CLP for the contribution in this green business.
Widex team is now undertaking solar system installation using different solar modules, including Mono-crystalline, Poly-crystalline, Thin-film, BIPV and bi-facial modules, etc. as well as handling safety and maintenance of the system.
