Technical Visit to Fire and Ambulance Services Academy (FASA)

Twenty-two members of the HKIE/Fire Division conducted a visit to the Fire and Ambulance Services Academy (FASA), 11 Pak Shing Kok Road, Pak Shing Kok, Tseung Kwan O, New Territories on 10 April 2016 to better understand its training facilities and related training provided.

Opened in 2016 and covering an area of 158 000 m2, the FASA provides state-of-the-art simulation training facilities which offer not only comprehensive training for both newly recruited and serving fire and ambulance personnel, but also professional firefighting and ambulance courses for other government departments, organizations and overseas counterparts.

Members took the opportunities visited various training areas of FASA to learn about the realistic training taken by firefighters and ambulance personnel in handling incidents occurred at railway station, train tunnel, swift water, petrol filling station and fuel tanks. The simulation training facilities can enhance the professional knowledge of FSD personnel as well as their rescue techniques for tackling various kinds of incident.

Lastly, FASA trainees presented a No. 1 alarm fire demonstration relating to high-rise building firefighting and rescue, as well as ambulance aid. The demonstrations gave members a better understanding on how the Fire Services Department (FSD) coordinates and tackles a wide range of large-scale incidents.

Appreciating its advanced and well-equipped facilities, the members said that the FASA provides FSD personnel with comprehensive and diversified training. The members opined that they take pride in Hong Kong's fire brigade and ambulance service which are well-trained and proficient.
