Programme Highlights
Midfield Concourse is an important infrastructure development for the Hong Kong International Airport. It will be able to handle 10 million more passengers and operation when completed in end 2015.  The Midfield project includes the construction of a five level Midfield Concourse with total floor area of 105,000 sq. m and over 35 green features; 20 aircraft parking stands with an Automated People Mover (APM) extending from Terminal One; and other supporting facilities.  The Midfield Concourse is designed to be highly environmentally friendly and to be one of the BEAM Plus Gold Standard certified buildings in Hong Kong. It’ has over 35 green initiatives covering various aspects ranging from the building's site, materials, energy and water use to
construction methods.  Various measures of passive and active fire protection that suit the operation requirements are
adopted on the terminal.  The program will highlight the performance and prescriptive requirements on the Code of
Practices related to passive and active protection measures. Case studies on the application of the performance base code to meet operation requirements of the concourse will be discussed.

Ir Wilson Tsang is the Senior Manager, Mechanical Engineering – Projects, Airport Authority Hong Kong. Ir Tsang has many years of experience in design and supervision of infrastructure projects and specializes in aviation and transportation services.
