Programme Highlights
The West Island Line is the underground extension of the existing MTR island Line form Sheung Wan to Kenney Town in approximate of 3 km. The construction was started in July 2009. It has been in operation from early 2015.  The Western Island Line with Sai Ying Pun, HKU and Kennedy Town station is a “Community Railways” with features of response to the needs of the community and upgrading the public facilities in the Western District, providing:

• Convenient pedestrian network to connect uphill and downhill
• Improvement to the footprints connecting to the station entrance

To incorporate these key features, performance based fire engineering is adopted to enhance the safety measure within the stations. It resulted in using the lifts for “means of escape” and “means of access” for these deep stations.  The program will begin with a briefing on the development, challenges during design and installation stages, then a guided tour to the stations development will be conducted.

The organizer reserves the right to decline the application if no membership no. is submitted.  All participants are required to wear their own safety shoes, and bring along with their HKIE Membership Cards.  The number of participants is limited to 30 and applications will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. The deadline of application is noon 19 May 2015. Successful applicants will be notified by email on or after 20 May 2015.
