Fire Engineering Discussion Forum

Date, time & venue

2015-02-26;1830 - 2100;Auditorium, 9/F The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups Building, 21 Pak Fuk Road, North Point

Programme Highlights

Since adoption of Performance Based Fire Engineering design approach for Hong Kong buildings, there were many prominent and successful buildings and infrastructure projects completed such as the HK International Airport, many of the
MRTC Lines, The Langham Place, The HK Convention and Exhibition Centre, International Commerce Centre, the newly completed MTRC HK University Station and the upcoming HK Airport Midfield Concourse, HK/Shenzhen High speed railway terminus.

Design and implementation of fire engineering concepts for the above projects have involved sophisticated design techniques, smoke/fire CFD modelling, evacuation modelling, risk analysis, fire and E&M system integration, comprehensive testing/commissioning process. Though it is important to ensure the fire engineering design concepts are fully incorporated during the project construction stage, it is equally or even more important for these fire engineering systems to be properly maintained, operated and managed throughout the life of these commercial and infrastructure buildings.

This Forum will discuss in general how the building management should make arrangement for buildings that adopted fire engineering design approach during the post Occupation Permit stage. The forum will also discuss the statutory requirements such as the annual F251 certification, annual ventilation maintenance certification and opinion from different stake holders such as fire engineer, Authorised Person, Registered Fire Contractor and Building Owner on this subject.
